Fishing

Fishing on the River Dee is one of Scotland’s great outdoor experiences, known for its clear water, beautiful surroundings and iconic salmon fishing. At Finzean Commonty Beat, our stretch offers a mix of pools, glides and faster runs, providing good opportunities throughout the season for salmon and later grilse. It’s a quiet, unspoilt spot - less about numbers, and more about taking your time, reading the water, and enjoying this special part of Deeside.

The Commonty Beat

The Commonty is a secluded and beautiful beat covering approximately 1.25 miles on the south side of the River Dee. It has three rotating rods from 1st February to the end of June, after which it reverts to a two rod beat. The Commonty is accessed by a forest road which gently descends through coniferous woodland to the river. There are 15 salmon pools of extremely varied character, which enable fishing at all heights. The main pool, the Garden, is an angler’s delight, offering versatility to even the most discerning fisher. Chair, Loop, Bend and Points are productive pools with their own unique and attractive characteristics.

Please note: fishing gear is not provided.
